Instructor: Theresa Otteson
When: April 14 – 15, 2023
Time: 10:00am – 4:00pm
Cost: $240

Before photography was available, botanical illustration was the only way of visually recording the world’s plant life. Illustrations of plant life were used by physicians, pharmacists, botanical scientists, and gardeners for identification, analysis, and classification.  Through the skill of artists, the beauty of botany was shared with the world. While photography has replaced painting as a means of documentation, these floral paintings are an inspiration for artists and those who enjoy their beauty.

In this two-day painting workshop, Theresa will walk you through the process of capturing the essence of florals in two methods; wet-in-wet and indirect through demonstration and personal instruction. On the first morning, Theresa will cover materials, paint application and various other topics, and give a demonstration of a wet-in-wet method leaving the afternoon for students to paint. On the second day, in the morning, she will demonstrate how to paint a flower in an indirect method and students will have the rest of the day to paint.

*Please note that this class is limited to eight students
