Discover the joy of applying oil paint to canvas using palette knives. Much like spreading butter, the palette knife technique lends itself nicely to the shapes found in nature – cliff faces, mountains, skies, clouds, rivers, and sands.
In this one-day workshop, students will create their own 12” x 12” painting, inspired by a spectacular western sunset. Artists of all levels will experience the joy of laying down numerous textures using a palette of stunning local colors. The class will cover canvas preparation, photograph gridding, rough sketching and paint application to loosely recreate a beautiful scene. Finished paintings are contemporary, impressionistic and somewhat abstract, the result of painting loosely and having fun!
*Please note that this class is limited to eight students
*Cost includes a ready-to-hang 12” x 12” gallery wrapped canvas, use of studio palette knives and other miscellaneous supplies
