Introduction to Handbuilt Pottery for Beginners: 5-week Series

Time: 10am-1pm
Cost: $295 (Includes all classroom tools, materials, glazing and firing services)

Join Deanna and Tracy as they co-teach this foundational class, all about handbuilding pottery for beginners!

Over the course of five weeks, you will learn several hand building skills and decorative techniques as you produce ceramic pieces that are both artistic and functional.  

Starting with an overview of pottery tools and materials, each week will introduce a new technique and pieces will be glazed and fired between classes.  Pottery pieces created will include: a small tray, 1-2 trinket trays, 2 sample tiles and a vase.  Examples of Techniques that will be covered include:

• Applique

• Stencil Use

• Attachment

• Embossing

• Etching
• Underglazing 

As a final class project you will build and glaze a finished piece of your own design using the skills learned throughout the class.

Your final finished piece will be ready for pick up at MakeSpace on Monday December 18th, just in time for the holiday season!
