Name of Class: Exploring Possibilities with Acrylic Paint

Teacher: Darcy Lee Saxton

Date: February 12th, 19th, 26th 2024

Time: 10am-1pm

Cost: $150

Description: If you’re new to acrylic painting, or if you’ve dabbled but haven’t achieved the results you’ve hoped for, this is the class for you!

Come learn to embrace your artistic intuition and style as we unlock the possibilities of working with the incredibly versatile and non-toxic medium of acrylic paint!

In this 3-week series, you will have the opportunity to create your own unique acrylic painting based on a subject matter of your choice. We will overview the basics of composition as well as the many methods, approaches, and materials to consider when working with this exciting medium.

Bring an inspiration photo or subject matter to work from, as well as the basic painting supplies listed below. We want you to bring your own supplies so you can keep the creative momentum going at home! Additional painting supplies to experiment with will be provided in class.

Student Supply List:

  • Inspirational photos to work from
  • Artist Grade Acrylic Paints (I like Golden, but you choose! They can be soft body, heavy body, OPEN, or fluid, depending on your preference.)
      • Recommended colors: Titanium White, plus a warm and cool version of each primary color (red, yellow and blue) for more mixing possibilities. Examples: Cadmium Yellow, Hasna Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Quinacridone Red, Cadmium Red
  • Synthetic Acrylic Brushes (I prefer various sizes of flat brushes, but you may bring a variety of shapes/sizes.)
  • Canvas (Your choice!)

*Please note that this class is limited to eight students
